Acceptable Use Policy

Chronlines is for telling stories in time: history, family, careers, ideas. Timelines can cover hard subjects such as wars, crimes and atrocities; documenting and teaching history is welcome. These rules apply to everything you put on Chronlines, especially timelines you share.
Don't use Chronlines to
- Break the law or help others break it.
- Harm children. Any sexual content involving minors is banned and reported to the authorities.
- Share intimate images without consent, or threaten to.
- Harass, threaten or bully anyone, or encourage others to.
- Expose private people. Don't share someone's home address, phone number, financial or health information, or similar details without their permission. Family timelines about living relatives should stay private unless they agree.
- Make damaging claims about real, living people that you present as fact without good sources.
- Promote violence or hatred. Content that celebrates or calls for violence, terrorism or hatred against people for who they are is not allowed. Neutral, factual history of these subjects is fine.
- Infringe others' rights, including copyright and trademark. Credit your sources and only upload images you're allowed to use.
- Mislead: impersonate people or organizations, or present invented events as real history.
- Spam or manipulate: bulk-create timelines, stuff links or keywords, or game rankings and counters.
- Attack or overload the service: probe for vulnerabilities without permission, bypass limits or security rules, scrape at scale, or upload malware.
What happens if you break these rules
Depending on how serious it is, we may remove content, make a timeline private, limit features, or suspend or close your account. We report illegal content involving children and credible threats to the appropriate authorities.
Report a problem
