Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Chronlines ("we", "us"), operated by Glenn Rumfellow in Louisiana, USA, until Chronlines LLC is formed. By using Chronlines you agree to them, to our Privacy Policy and to our Acceptable Use Policy.
1. Who can use Chronlines
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian. Chronlines is not offered for student accounts managed by schools.
2. Your account
Keep your sign-in details secure; you're responsible for activity on your account. Give us an email address you control, because we use it for verification, password resets and important notices.
3. Your content
You own the timelines, events, text and images you add ("your content"). To run the service, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, display and transmit your content as needed to operate, secure and improve Chronlines, and to show it to the people allowed by its visibility setting. This license ends when you delete the content, except for copies in backups kept for a limited time and anything others have lawfully copied from a public timeline.
Public timelines. When you make a timeline public, you also let other users view, copy and adapt its events (for example into their own timelines) under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license (CC BY 4.0), with credit to the source timeline. Timelines shared only with people you invite are not covered by this license. (This default is under legal review.)
You're responsible for your content. Only add content you have the right to share, and follow the Acceptable Use Policy.
4. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Chronlines infringes your copyright, send a notice to support@chronlines.com identifying the work, the content (with its link), your contact details, a statement of good-faith belief, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you're authorized to act. We respond to valid notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, accept counter-notices, and terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
5. Intimate images and other urgent removals
If an intimate image of you was shared without your consent, report it to support@chronlines.com. We remove valid reports within 48 hours and work to remove copies.
6. Our service
We're improving Chronlines all the time and may change, add or remove features. We'll give reasonable notice of changes that significantly reduce what you can do. You can export your data at any time.
If we offer AI features, their output may be inaccurate or incomplete. Review it before relying on it or sharing it.
7. Ending your use
You can stop using Chronlines and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or to protect users or comply with the law. Where reasonable, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to export your content.
8. Disclaimers
Chronlines is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Timelines made by other users reflect their views, not ours, and may contain mistakes.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to Chronlines is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US $100.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana and applicable US federal law. Courts located in Louisiana have jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring claims in your local courts.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we'll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Chronlines after that, the new terms apply.
